How to Make Air Fryer Frozen Potstickers

You’ll need the following ingredients for this yummy and easy recipe :

Ingredients

– Frozen potstickers (Ling Ling, Tai Pei, Pagoda, Whole Foods, Costco, and Trader Joe’s are some of the best brands to look for)

– Ingredients for the dipping sauce (Optional)

– Vegetable oil spray. I recommend using Avocado oil, but extra light olive oil also works. 

Some potstickers are wrapped in wheat flour, while others are wrapped in rice flour.

Wheat flour wrappers make the greatest frozen dumplings for air frying.

Rice flour wrappers are typically used for steaming dumplings. In the air fryer, they can get crispy, but they won’t brown well. Wheat wrapper dumplings, on the other hand, crisp up quickly and brown well.

Cooking time will be less for mini potstickers and dumplings with thinner wrappers (such as gyoza). 

Although the air fryer may seem like an easy, convenient, and great way to cook, you should expect the cooking time to vary depending on the brand of air fryer you’re using. Always keep a close eye on the food you’re cooking the first time you make with an air fryer.

You can use this air fryer potstickers recipe for almost any type of dumpling.

I made this quick recipe using my Cosori Air Fryer and Ling Ling potstickers. The square basket gave me more space to cook these dumplings all at once.

Pork potstickers are my favorite (vegetable potstickers are also delicious), but this recipe will work for all!

Pork potstickers are a type of dumpling made with pork, cabbage, onion, water, green onion, soy sauce (water, wheat flour and soybeans), soybean flour and sugar mixed together with garlic salt and ginger pepper.

 

Step-by-Step Instructions for Air Fryer Frozen Dumplings

– Preheat your air fryer for 4 to 5 minutes at 380 degrees F.

– Cover your air fryer tray or basket with avocado oil or extra light olive oil spray.

– Place the potstickers in a single layer on the prepared tray. Stacking the dumplings is not recommended. Spray the potstickers liberally with cooking oil spray.

– To achieve even cooking in potstickers, it is important to keep them in an even layer. 

– Cook for 5 minutes before shaking the basket and spraying with a bit more oil.

This, I’ve discovered, keeps them from drying out. If your potstickers do not appear to be dry, you can skip this step.

– Cook for a further 4 to 7 minutes, or until the potstickers are golden brown on top.

– If your potstickers aren’t crispy enough, flip them again and spritz them with oil.

– Allow the air fry potstickers to cool for 2 minutes after removing them from the basket. 

 

What To Serve – Air Fryer Pot Stickers

Serve with your favorite dipping sauce, such as soy ginger sauce, on the side. There are a variety of other sauces to choose from, including hot chilli sauce, hoisin sauce, black rice vinegar, sweet chilli sauce, and peanut sauce. 

Serve alongside any side dish:

– Fried rice

– Egg drop soup

– Air fried vegetables

– Green beans

– Salad

A sachet of dipping sauce is included with some potsticker brands. However, many of these have a high sugar content. It’s all a matter of personal preference and there is no right or wrong answer. However, making your own dipping sauce is the best way to give your crispy dumplings a healthy boost. 

This is a quick and easy sauce that you can make while the dumplings are cooking. It takes only two minutes to prepare, and it’s perfect for topping off your potstickers.

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, maple syrup, garlic powder, rice vinegar, water and red pepper flakes. If desired, sprinkle sesame seeds on top.

Tips & Tricks About Air Fryer Frozen PotStickers

– No need to thaw the frozen potstickers. You can air fry them straight from frozen.

– Cook the dumplings in a single layer, not overlapping them, to ensure even cooking. If needed, cook the dumplings in batches.

– Coating the potstickers in oil will prevent them from becoming dry. Make sure your potstickers stays crispy and golden on the outside, while being cooked perfectly on the inside.

– To ensure crispy results and even cooking, preheat your air fryer before using. Less time will be required to cook your food in the air fryer.

– Cook time will vary depending on the size of your dumplings and your air fryer model. If they don’t turn brown after 6 to 8 minutes, flip them again and add a few more minutes.

– Cooking frozen food to 165 degrees F. (74 degrees C.) will ensure that it is safe to eat. Cooking frozen food to a specific temperature is important to maintain the food’s quality and prevent bacterial growth. A meat thermometer can help make sure the food is cooked to the correct temperature. 

– Leftover potstickers can be stored in the fridge in an airtight container for up to four days, but they are best eaten straight away.

– Reheat dumplings in an air fryer at 350 degrees F. (177 degrees C.) for 2 minutes, flipping halfway through.

What is the easiest way to separate a large bag of frozen dumplings?

You have a couple of options if you can’t gently separate them with your fingers.

My preferred way is smacking the bag roughly on a table, but this can result in broken dumplings. Break them apart carefully in a bowl of lukewarm water before patting them dry. Then, on a baking dish lined with freezer paper, refreeze in a single layer.

 

What is the best way to air fry frozen dumplings?

To air fry dumplings, all you need is some oil to apply over them. Do not thaw them. Cook for another 9 to 11 minutes at 380°F until golden brown. Cook the dumplings for a shorter period if you want them to be softer. Remove from air fryer and let them rest for about 2 minutes before serve.

 

Is it necessary to defrost potstickers before air frying them?

No. Save time and effort by air-frying frozen pot stickers without first thawing them. 

 

Can you put parchment paper in an air fryer?

Most kinds of parchment paper can withstand temperatures between 420 and 450 degrees Fahrenheit, making it ideal for air fryer use. Silicone is applied on parchment paper, making it heat resistant, greaseproof, and nonstick. 

 

Is cooking spray bad for air fryer?
